There are shacks virtually on the airport site, even the cleaners in the airport beg for money, children are maimed to get better begging takings, and all of the swanky blocks from the airport into town are covered in black mould. Maintenance as a concept does not appear to exist in any Indian language. Bologna the best Italian city I returned there 20 years after my first visit could not believe the amount of graffitti. The mine site was in Wittenoom; a town by the same name servicing the workers of what was a booming industry. But since discovering the hazardous effects of asbestos, Wittenoom s been deserted. On a family trip round Australia in the 80s, our car broke down in Wittenoom and we were stuck there for nearly a week. I loved the t-shirt I bought: Wittenoom is Gorge-ous . But the thing I remember most is Karinjini Gorge, mindblowingly beautiful even for a 13-year-old. family holiday wales

I also went to Wittenoom with my family in the 80s. We visited the mine and I was terrified that my dad was going to catch cancer because he found the deadly blue stuff so interesting and picked it up. Interesting place, a shame it s been shut down. adventure holiday wales

I now live in Wittenoom and have read all the Government and scientific reports which show that there is minimal risk to humans in the town now that the mine has ceased operations. This beautiful place needs now to be cleaned up by responsible Governments so that future generations can enjoy this piece of paradise. But Governments are dancing to mining companies tunes who want to mine this region, so Garrett time you vocalised the truth and conservation is what is needed here not blind ignorance and lies. cottage holiday wales

Not being able to turn down the chance of being whisked off to Paris for the day, we jumped at Eurostar s invitation to join other Green Pioneers on its first service and test out the super fast way of getting over to magical Paris. Plus, Eurostar offset all their carbon emissions, so apart from the (large) chocolate bar we shared on the train over, the trip was practically guilt-free. caravan holiday in wales

We excitedly checked in at the recently refurbished and renamed St Pancras International station, which has been fully restored to house the 400-metre-long Eurostar trains. With a crowd of media and trainspotters looking on the 11.07am train pulled away from its glorious new home on the first ever 186mph (that s a whopping 300kph) Eurostar to Paris. As we sped to Paris s Gard Du Nord we watched the blurred scenery rush by before descending into the Channel Tunnel for the 20 minutes stretch under the English Channel. The buffet car was a disappointment - we would have to take out a small loan to purchase a few snacks to see us through the journey. As we emerged from the Tunnel there was a good old British round of applause, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, although this could have had something to do with the free champagne. camping holiday wales

The verdict Comfortable, effortless and the most environmentally-friendly way to travel. With the journey time now only two hours and 15 minutes Eurostar makes flying to Paris look positively outdated. We ll definitely be popping over again soon... accommodation holiday wales
