Posted: 26-Jan-2008 19:00 9 For your information (I m not trying to discourage tourism in Malaysia here, ok). Last year a couple (white tourism, not sure from which country) came to Langkawi. The Islamic enforcer raid their hotel enter the room and asked for a marriage certificate s because they suspected the couple are muslim. Mind you, they are white (foreigner) and not asian, and yet they still get into this trouble. What I m saying here is, sometimes islamic enforcer and RELA in M sia can be overzealous doing their works and they forgot to bring their brain to work. catering holiday self wales
So, better be safe than sorry. ps: syariah rules apply to
every muslim (no such thing about foreign muslim or local
muslim), if the citizen allow, the islamic enforcer want all
female muslim to cover all their body just like the arabs
country. Edited by: karloon
oh dear you haven t got a clue about Arab countries have you, if you think that all female Muslims cover all their bodies in all of them. In actual fact, there s hardly any Arab countries where there this is the case. family holiday wales

mainly looking for uncrowded surf.
That out of the way, if you want uncrowded surf, do what the
locals do: Go early (dawn patrol) and go on a week day. Posted:
26-Jan-2008 09:44 3 I surf all the time. I think there is too
much localism in Hawaii to pursue this though. I ll stick
to Central America and the South Pacific.

For those following the situation in Burma who would like to support the protesters in some way, you can do so by signing a petition to be presented to the UN this week: Burma is ruled by one of the most brutal military dictatorships in the world. For decades the Burmese regime has fought off pressure--imprisoning elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and democracy activists, wiping out thousands of villages, imposing forced labour, creating refugees- accommodation holiday wales
But last Tuesday Buddhist monks and nuns, revered in Burma, began marching and chanting prayers. The protests spread as hundreds of thousands of ordinary people and public figures joined in, finding the hope they% lost. http://www.avaaz.org/en/stand_with_burma In the past, Burma s military rulers have massacred the demonstrators and crushed democracy. The world must stand with the Burmese people at this time, to show the military rulers that the world will not tolerate repression and violence. Right now, global leaders are gathering in New York for the annual United Nations summit. In speeches, press interviews but also in real actions, we need them to show Burma s military junta that the global community is willing to act in solidarity with the protesters. catering holiday self wales

Does On The Road s celebration of the spontaneous and the improvised get lost in the advertiser s command to just do it As travellers what do you think - Dan Caleo Labels: The Americas Join the Discussion: holiday riding wales
3 Comments:Disclaimer first: I ve never read On the Road , so feel free to ignore this. I d say it s pretty hard these days to come up with a rebellion that doesn t get mainstreamed and commodified before you can blink. I d also say that travel as a form of rebellion is pretty much dead - companies like Lonely Planet love to market travel as a way of proving your independence and otherness from the mainstream, but travel has really become just another status symbol, something you can purchase to give you more cred. Buy a big screen TV, buy a trip to Kazakhstan; they re both just ways of improving your standing with whatever niche you consider yourself part of (and proving it by showing you reject the trappings of whatever niches you don t consider yourself part of). adventure holiday wales
monebaggasseI sincerely appreciate your comment about traveling with a smaller impact or footprint. It's been on my mind a great deal lately as I plan future trips, from the impact on climate change of my plane trip, to the influence tourism has on the communities I visit. It's be great for Lonely Planet to do more education to travelers about how we can reduce our impacts, though your own site and through other media outlets. Thanks!
