Visiting Paris tourist attractions with the Paris Pass Read what other travellers thought so you can plan and get the most from your trip. We found the best part of the Paris Pass to be the queue jumping rights at the tourist attractions. The lines at the Louvre and Orsay were ridiculous to say the least. Could ve easily spent half a day just waiting to get in! - Pam Harper, Tourist in Paris October 07 family holiday wales

Mus e Picasso is located in the H tel Sal on rue de Thorigny, in the Marais district of Paris. The mansion which houses the collection was built between 1656 and 1659 for Pierre Aubert, Lord of Fontenay. The H tel Sal is considered to be one of the finest historic houses in the district and the Picasso museum itself is sensational. Once home to the Embassay of the Republic of Venice (1671) and appropriated by the state after the revolution, it became a school before being acquired by the city of Paris in 1964. Made up largely from works acquired by the state through inheritance tax as well as private donations, the Mus e Picasso collection contains over 3000 works from all of Picasso s major periods. The Picasso Museum also exhibits the artist s own personal collection which includes work by C zanne, Matisse, Degas, and Rousseau. The Mus e National Picasso is comprehensive in displaying the many works and in holding temporary exhibitions; the permanent exhibition is staggering in scope. It proceeds chronologically and traces Picasso s life and work through paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints, photographs and newspaper clippings. The Mus e Picasso is an astonishing insight into the life and work of this most influential of artists. You can experience and enjoy Picasso's finest works with the Paris Pass sightseeing card! SAINTE-CHAPELLE Sainte-Chapelle was an architectural and aesthetic marvel of its day and at one time the most important and holy place in the whole world. To walk inside this magical space, in the constantly shifting, bejewelled light from the stunning stained-glass walls, is to walk in the once private sanctum of royalty, and through a place of once extraordinary religious symbolism. Sainte-Chapelle was built during the second half of the 13th century by Louis IX. Construction was completed quickly between 1241 and 1248. Residing within the Palais de la Cit itself, Sainte-Chapelle is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture; the roof appears to be supported by stained-glass so that the chapel feels like the inside of a jewel. The building itself is a giant reliquary, built both to house the great relics of the king, including Christ s crown of thorns and a piece of the true cross, and to prove worthy of owning these relics. At its heart rests a magnificent gold and silver shrine. Sainte-Chapelle has inevitably suffered through the years. Two fires damaged the building in 1630 and 1776. The stained glass windows in the lower chapel were destroyed when the Seine flooded in 1690. During the revolution the chapel was stripped of its treasures; the statues were defaced and the furniture removed. Nevertheless, this remains an extraordinary place: an unmissable and unmistakable wonder of France and the medieval world. Come experience Sainte-Chapelle with the Paris Pass sightseeting card! Villa Savoye | Paris Pass Visit the Villa Savoye with the Paris Sightseeing Museum Pass VILLA SAVOYE The Villa Savoye is a masterpiece of 20th century design and one of the greatest works by the Swiss architect Le Corbusier. Situated at Poissy, outside of Paris, the Villa Savoye is very distinctive and quite stunning. Built in accordance with Le Corbusier s stylistic rules, which are still hugely influential today, the house stands elevated in the middle of a field, boasting a roof terrace and horizontal windows. These features and others were to become central to modern architecture. The Villa Savoye was what Le Courbusier s referred to as his machine for living . Even today the Villa Savoye is a house of the future. Le Corbusier was a genius and a man whose influence has profoundly affected the modern world. He pioneered an aesthetic revolution and showed the world that the future of housing could be not only beautiful, but functional and made using modern materials. The house was ruined during the Second World War but was successfully restored to its former glory. Villa Savoye stands today as a small building of enormous importance; it is well worth investigating. If you are planning a trip to Paris, be sure to see the beautiful Villa Savoye with your Paris Pass sightseeing card. Planning your visit to the VILLA SAVOYE Opera de Paris - Palais Garnier |Paris Opera House - Garnier Palace | Paris Pass Visit the Paris Opera House with the Paris Sightseeing Museum Pass OPERA DE PARIS - PALAIS GARNIER PARIS OPERA HOUSE- GARNIER PALACE Cit des Science. This museum is a giant interactive playground that encourages children to explore and experiment and in so doing, to learn about the world in an inspiring and fun way. For something less educational but perhaps more fun, check out the Grevin Museum of waxwork where kids of all ages can wander among the great figures of French history as well as the celebrities of today. The museum s Mirror exhibition is the type of attraction that has been entertaining children for over 100 years and continues to do so. The Aquarium Tropical de la Porte Dor e is something of an oddity; a tropical aquarium housed in an art deco palace. They have crocodiles, sharks, cuttlefish and a large amount of tropical fish from around the world - a truly unique Parisian experience! You will be delighted and mystified at the collection of inventions, discoveries and technological innovation on display at the Mus e des Arts et M tiers. Don't miss the collection of vintage cars and flying machines, all of which are suspended from the roof. For something of the scare factor be sure to visit the Mus e des gouts de Paris, a fascinating museum dedicated to the famous sewer system of Paris. Home of gothic arches and tunnels and to a thousand stories, the Paris Sewer Museum is sure to thrill and chill the whole family. Lastly, do not overlook the grander, more seemingly adult oriented museums. The Louvre, Orsay and Pompidou are so spectacular that even the most fleetingly attentive child, big or small, will pause in wonder at this collection. MORE PARIS MUST-SEE'S FOR FAMILIES:

As well as being home to some of the world s greatest museums, the sheer number and range of dedicated museums in Paris is so extensive that one could explore them for years and discover new wonders each day. Many of the museums in Paris are remnants of vast personal collections assembled by aristocrats. For instance, the Mus e National des Arts Asiatiques stemmed from the jolly travels of one exceedingly rich man. It is now a brilliant and internationally renowned museum and a centre for knowledge of Indianised art. Other museums stem from the state s decision to document some phenomena or pay tribute to some aspect of French life. The costume museum (Mus e de la Mode et du Textile) contains over 81, 000 works which trace the history of costume in France from the Regency period to the present-day and innovations in textiles since the 7th century. Then there are the undisputed titans of the scene: Mus e du Louvre houses the biggest collection of art in the world with some 6 million visitors passing through every year. Home to masterpieces by Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Vermeer and Cezanne, the Louvre is also very popular today due to its part in Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code'. The Sewer Museum (Mus e des gouts de Paris) is an obscure and unique look at the famous sewer system of Paris. Beneath Paris there is a veritable city in itself of tunnels, arches and crossroads, and this museum explores the history of this underworld. Other special interest museums include the Mus e de la Monnaie which tells the story of how the rulers fought to control the making of money and of how the techniques of coin striking developed over the centuries; the Mus e de la Musique which looks at all things musical, taking visitors through the history of music and instrument-making in Europe; and even the Mus e de La Poste which tells the story of post service and of pre-industrial methods of communication in a consistently lively and interesting way. The last 20 years in particular has seen a large number of great public projects to develop and refurbish Parisian museums, and the Cit des Sciences et de l'Industrie monebaggasse
