Traveller's Journal: Snowdonia National Park - Day 2

Holiday In Wales The Royal Victoria Hotel sits at the head of Llanberis Pass, near the foot of Mount Snowdon. Its elevated position provides wonderful views over Llanberis village, reminiscent of a wise old headmaster appraising his class.

Split is one of the most tempting cities to visit and is on the Dalmatian coasts, and streets are lined with shouting stall holders and travellers. If you are planning to travel here then please read our travel to Split guide. Travel to Zadar Zadar is the tourist and cultural centre, it has four national parks and picturesque sea coasts. If you are planning a holiday here then please read our travel to Zadar guide.

Holiday Wales Sandwiched between the two lakes of Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, the hotel is an excellent base for exploring the wild terrain of Snowdonia.

Cottage Holiday In Wales I awoke to another gloomy day. The rain had continued through the night and showed little sign of letting up. Apparently Llanberis gets twice as much annual rainfall as Caernarfon ten miles to the west and I could certainly believe it.

When you think about hiking, known and most spectacular North American hiking locations, like Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Olympic National Park, the Appalachian Trail, and the Pacific Crest Trail. Generations of hikers have flocked to these renowned locations, and they are indeed extremely rewarding to visit and explore. famous Half Dome in Yosemite Valley is beyond compare, the winds atop Mount Washington record setting, and the rock formations in Arches National Park inspiring.

Caravan Holiday In Wales Breakfast was a pleasant affair. Staff dressed all in black were only too happy to serve your every whim. For the early risers, there's the luxury of a table in the conservatory and great views across the village and lake. Unfortunately my aching limbs would not allow the advantage of an early start and I took my place with the commoners in the breakfast room.

St. Director of Tourism Since 1998 Mr. Peter Hilary Modeste has served, as the Director of Tourism of the St. Lucia Tourist Board. President of the St. Lucia Hotel & Tourism Association, Mr. Modeste has been employed within the tourism sector for a number of years. He was educated at the University of Wales and is married with three children. A former Minister of Education, Mr. Modeste has served on a number of national organizations including the St. Lucia Development Bank.

Camping Holiday Wales The staff all seemed to have strange accents, my best guess that of eastern European. This seems to be the norm these days. Everywhere I’ve travelled in Britain recently has been staffed with foreigners.

Bull elephant taking a sunset dustbath South African Tourism The Kruger National Park, which measures a whopping two million hectares, is approximately the size of the whole of Wales. Although there are still fences between parts of the Kruger National Park and Mozambique and Zimbabwe, so the planned Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park is not quite yet a reality. When it is, it will be spectacular. Actually, Kruger already is. Most of the park is situated in the Lowveld. Restricted to broad valleys below 1 000m above sea level, the Lowveld is what many people consider to be the 'real' Africa. lying subtropical climate, exist happily in relatively open woodland, and, of course, game. Wildlife abounds.

Accommodation Holiday Wales There appears to be some kind of European swap shop going on. Somewhere in the far flung corner of the continent must reside a glut of English people serving tea and coffee, and asking people what they thought of the weather.

Holiday Last Minute Wales I decided to take a walk in the village. Despite a population of just 2,000, Llanberis provides jobs for over 1,200 people, mainly through tourism. Its most famous attraction is the Snowdon Mountain Railway, Britain's only rack and pinion railroad. Believe it or not it opened the same day as the modern Olympic Games at Athens in 1896.

Catering Holiday Self Wales Unfortunately the opening day was not without its casualties when one of the carriages derailed and tumbled down Llanberis Pass. Amazingly there have been no more derailments to this day, a comforting thought as I made my way to the ticket booth.

Holiday Wales Walking Alas, the train today would only be going three-quarters of the way up due to ice on the track at the top. Having driven all the way to Llanberis the least I can do is wait for the ice to clear and travel to the summit.

Family Holiday Wales So I decide to wait another day. Hopefully the rain may also have cleared by then. It’s only later I realise, not only is it the wrong day, but the wrong season and the snow will not clear until the summer. For now, however, it’s time for lunch.
