Dodge's Durango SLT

Dodge's Durango SLT

Author: Brett Becker
Our relationship with the Durango began in much the same way they all do. We saw it from across the road and noticed its subtle curves and lines when it caught us looking. We wanted to spend some time with it, maybe take it out to the lake or on a weekend getaway.

Holiday In Wales Early on, we came to depend on the Durango's steering-wheel-mounted stereo control. It had buttons for volume and seek and scan, as well as one for skipping to the next preset radio station. Our art director called the controls "addictive" in notes he scrawled in the logbook.

Small Business Health Insurance Plans Comprehensive small business health insurance plans pay for doctor visits, hospital visits, and prescription drugs. Also known as indemnity plans, these plans let you use your own doctors, specialists, and hospitals. You pay an insurance premium for your plan, plus a deductible (usually $500 to $2, 000) before your insurer begins to pay your claims. Most plans cover 80% of medical costs, and you or your employee pay the remaining 20%.

Holiday Wales The gigantic outside and self-tinting inside mirrors were likewise addictive. Perhaps the largest in its class, the outside mirrors feature defrosters, which were handy for chilly spring mornings and would be a must-have in northern climes. Inside, all a driver has to do is adjust the rearview mirror to his or her liking and fuggeddaboudit. At night, when blinding headlights penetrate the interior from behind, the mirror automatically tints until it is no longer an issue.

DURANGO, CO DURANGO, CO Tucked away in a horseshoe of the San Juan Mountains at an elevation of 6, 512 feet, Durango has been a gateway to Southwestern Colorado's riches. Indians and miners, ranchers, and railroad engineers alike, have passed through Durango on the way to seek their fortunes. And many of those characters found that Durango itself was the treasure they sought. Durango was established in 1881, as a frontier mining town. time settlers discovered they got more out of the scenery than the mines. Nestled in the Animas River Valley, in the afternoon shadows of the San Juan Mountains, people still get pretty much the same feeling. it where ranches, rolling hills, breathtaking beauty and a storytelling river harken back to the days when people had the time, and took the time, to slow down and simply visit.

Cottage Holiday In Wales However, when it came to towing, the relationship hit a bump or two, but it smoothed out after all was said and done.

  • Don't plan to visit more than two colleges a day.
  • Make sure you've got a pen and paper handy to take detailed

Caravan Holiday In Wales Those bumps upset the chassis more than other trucks and sport utes we've tested. Granted, it is a truck, and we expect to be jostled a little, but Dodge engineers might look into softening the spring rates.

St. Director of Tourism Since 1998 Mr. Peter Hilary Modeste has served, as the Director of Tourism of the St. Lucia Tourist Board. Camping Holiday Wales In addition, the 360-cubic-inch V-8 produces 245 horsepower and 335 foot/pounds of torque. However, all of it doesn't seem to make it to the rear wheels, and what does make it must motivate the somewhat portly 4,736-pound truck before it can think about hauling the boat behind it. Now, that doesn't mean acceleration is anemic. Buyers moving up from a V-6-powered sport ute will appreciate the gains, but if you're used to V-8 power, you will notice the difference.

* Managed Health Care Plans (HMOs, PPOs, POSs), which are the least expensive plans. payment (usually $5 to $10 per doctor visit). With these plans you must use a doctor or hospital within a network of health care professionals, network doctor or hospital.

Accommodation Holiday Wales You also will feel how well the transmission works, which rates among the best in shift feel and consistency. The smooth but firm reassuring nudge into the next upper gear tells us the engineers achieved just the right combination of line pressure, ignition and shift timing. Whether unloaded or with boat in tow, the Durango's shifts retained the same consistent feel. A lot of transmissions tend to "bang" into the next gear when under load which can rattle the hitch draw bar and receiver. Not this truck.

Holiday Last Minute Wales Another nice feature: no shift-brake interlock. What's that, you ask? It's that annoying mechanism that forces the driver to step on the brake before shifting from park , which appeared on just about every vehicle in the late eighties and early nineties. We celebrated its absence.

Catering Holiday Self Wales With the switch on the end of the shift lever, the driver can lock out overdrive for towing duty.

Holiday Wales Walking With overdrive locked out, our test Durango turned 2,600 rpm at 60 mph. At that rpm, the engine isn't laboring too hard, and as a result, cabin noise isn't a factor. Fuel mileage, however, is. With a pontoon boat in tow, the Durango averaged 9.1 mpg on a 58-mile trip - which is almost 6.5 gallons of gas. That kind of mileage will yield about 225 miles from a full tank. Even without towing a boat, fuel mileage never was what the EPA estimated it to be on the window sticker. But, if you want to play. ...

Family Holiday Wales And play we did. We put more than 1,000 miles on the clock. Towing everything from pontoon boats to work boats to a two-up PWC trailer, the Durango behaved the same with each: No surprises, no quirks. We began to count on this conduct from Durango during our courtship.

Holiday Riding Wales The interior also became a comfortable familiarity. The rear seat folds to create a flat load floor, something not all small and midsize sport utes will do. Rear-seat headrests are often too high and hit the back of the front seat before folding flat, leaving the load floor with a slight incline at the front. The rear seat also splits 60/40, so you can carry passengers and a pair of skis in the back. Beneath the load floor lie two compartments. The one behind the rear seat is approximately 6 inches deep with a gas strut-supported lid, and the one at the rear hatch is about 3 inches deep, which holds some jack and spare-tire equipment. Storing the spare tire beneath the vehicle maximizes interior volume.

Adventure Holiday Wales When it came time to say good-bye, there were no tears, but we had grown accustomed to our towing mate. Though the courtship was short, breaking up was hard to do.
