A moveable feast

Paris, a city with a long history, a symbol and a heart of France is a place, which everyone should visit. This city gave inspiration to world-famous artists, writers and musicians and their creative spirit still lives here.
The first settlements of the area of the modern Paris appeared in 150 BC and a century later it was conquered by the Romans. The first king of France moved to Paris in 508. Thus Paris became the first and the only French capital. Paris has always been a center of the most significant events in French and, sometimes, world, history.
Everyone knew - if you want to receive France, you must at first capture Paris. Some kings made a sacrifice to be on Paris throne. Henry IV changed his religion from Protestant to Catholic to have right to be named French king. "Paris is worth a mess," he said and hardly anyone could blame him for this.
In XX century Paris has become one of the world leaders in art and fashion, many of the most brilliant masterpieces were born here. It's still one of the most significant art treasuries with its numerous museums - Louvre, Orsay, Rodin museum and others.
Louvre was opened in the former Royal Palace in 1793. It's the forth oldest museum in Europe after Ashmola museum, Dresden Gallery and Vatican museum. The first exposition in Louvre was devoted to the French kings' belongings. Museum collection is constantly widening with the help of French government and the generosity of the patrons of art. The museum is divided into three parts representing different eras in art development. The newest wing exhibits French sculpture, Orient and European art. In the second gallery are displayed Greek and Etruscan collections and French and Italian painting. The third wing houses a lot of Parisian antiquities, Greek and Roman art and French painting up to XIX century.
Orsay museum occupies the building of the former Orsay railway station. In 1986 the building was totally restored and this museum was opened. The exposition covers the art of 1848-1914 period.
Rodin museum is a monument to French sculptor August Rodin who once lived in this house. In 1911 French government bought it and in 1919 opened a museum.
Ernest Hemingway called Paris "a moveable feast". Here you really can find an entertainment for any taste. You can choose between opera, theater, restaurants, walking or shopping.
The most notorious show is given in Moulin Rouge. The distillation of the cabaret genre it's the place where you can also to eat. Le Lapin Agile is another traditional cabaret. Paris also boasts a lot of nightclubs and discos.
