Seednet Selects Multimedia Communications Solution from Nortel Networks

SIP-based, Converged Network to Accelerate Next Generation VoIP, Multimedia Services

Holiday In Wales TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 2004--Seednet, one of the leading Internet service providers in Taiwan, has selected a solution from the Multimedia Communications Portfolio of Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT)(TSX:NT) to deliver next generation voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and multimedia communication services to its customers.
Seednet is expected to be the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Taiwan to provide advanced SIP Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based multimedia services. SIP is an emerging industry standard designed to deliver a variety of multimedia services including voice call management, desktop video calling, collaboration tools and personalization services.

Holiday Wales Seednet is planning to provide the new services by the end of 2004 using Nortel Networks Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5200. MCS 5200 will enable Seednet to launch hosted IP multimedia applications and services on a simplified network that will converge existing voice, data and video services onto a single IP infrastructure. The converged network is expected to enhance the customer experience and improve end-user mobility. The MCS 5200 network will be deployed by Nortel Networks channel partner Hitron International Inc.

Nortel Networks and NTU have already demonstrated advanced services over the Wireless Mesh Network solution, including video streaming, Fi voice over IP (Internet Protocol) over while driving at speeds of 50 kilometers per hour. The joint program with NTU will continue to innovate, develop, test and enhance advanced services on the Wireless Mesh Network Solution.
